I originally wanted to go to art school to pursue a degree in Illustration. It was my love. It still is, I think. SO THERE. I SAID IT.
Regardless. At my first opportunity I took an Illustration Elective with one, Hector Casanova, and I LOVED it. I worked real hard on all my projects and I felt like I really learned things and made accomplishments. The critiques in that class were so spot-on and helpful it was hard NOT to feel like you succeeded at something. Sorry guys, but all my critiques in ceramics have sucked on some level or another. They’re just not constructive, for the most part. Anyway. So I guess maybe I can’t say for sure whether the class was beloved to me because of the way it was taught, set up, the assignments, or because of the subject matter. Or because Hector was adorable. I JUST CAN’T SAY FOR SURE. In any case. It is dear to my heart, and if I were to pursue a career in the arts, ceramics can eff off, because I will go into Illustration.
So. Here’s an album cover I designed and constructed. Most. Well. ALL of the other kids made theirs on the computer and printed them out. I embroidered mine and assembled it, which I think everyone liked and was refreshed to see. Really it was just because I had NOOOO idea how to do much of anything illustration- or design-wise on the computer. But I learned a bit in this class.
(More coming soon…)
